Riders x Clean Ocean Project
At Riders, the ocean is part of our everyday life, whether we’re teaching people to surf, riding along the coastline, or just enjoying the waves with our community. That’s why we’re proud to be part of Amigo del Mar, a local collaboration created by Clean Ocean Project to protect the beaches and waters of Fuerteventura.
Clean Ocean Project is a Fuerteventura-based NGO that has been protecting the ocean and local coastlines since 2002, working on everything from clean-ups and educational projects to activism against plastic pollution and destructive coastal development.
What is “Amigo del Mar”?
Amigo del Mar brings together local businesses that want to support the work of Clean Ocean Project: keeping our coastlines clean, reducing plastic pollution, and protecting Fuerteventura’s natural spaces from destructive development.
(You can see the certificate we received in the photo above.)
What is our role?
As an Amigo del Mar partner, we:
- contribute a monthly donation to support their local projects,
- take part in awareness initiatives and community actions,
- and help spread their message within our surf and bike community.
For us, this is a way of giving something back to the ocean that shapes our life and work here in El Cotillo.
Why we joined?
Living and working next to the sea means we see changes on our beaches every day. Without collective effort, we won’t be able to preserve what makes Fuerteventura so special.
We believe that small, consistent contributions create real impact over time. That’s why we joined this local movement and continue to support it.
Want to help too?
Clean Ocean Project runs regular beach cleanups, awareness actions and community projects across the island.
